Public Giving
Yesterday, as I was looking through social media, I saw an Organization handing out food bags to the needy. I was happy. Suddenly, I saw one of the men's body language appeared to look like he was feeling shame or something like that. Well, it's possible my observation was wrong, but it made me think about the preservation of human dignity and the ego of men. Do you know some people would rather starve than accept food from a giver? Some people don't want their pictures going round the world looking like a beggar or poor person, please no offense to the poor, just making a point. I felt so sad when I thought of this aspect of things. Friends, when we give to others in need, please let's show empathy too and put us in their shoes and ask ourselves, "would we want to be photographed when we receive arms?" Now, the case of sponsorship. I know sponsors would like to see what we have used the donations to do, but I believe there are skillful ways to present to them. Like a picture of the lines of people without showing their faces or asking them first if they would love to be photographed. Another skillful way is to show the packages of food before distribution. Anyway, may the Lord continue to direct us as we give to the needy. God bless givers and may God replenish their pockets. - Martha
